Patients scan the QR code on their appointment confirmation, the QR posted at the clinic door, or the WhatsApp pre-registration link — and they are checked in and queued in under 30 seconds without touching a keyboard.
QR code check-in is the fastest possible arrival flow for appointment patients and the most hygienic for walk-ins. Yet most clinic kiosk deployments treat QR as an afterthought rather than the primary check-in vector. MOVO-X makes QR the default, not the exception.
Every appointment confirmation (WhatsApp, email, SMS) includes a unique QR code. Patient scans at the kiosk on arrival — a single scan confirms identity, appointment details, and assigns the queue ticket.
A large-format QR poster at the clinic entrance lets walk-in patients begin check-in from their phone before they reach the kiosk. They arrive at the kiosk pre-identified.
Appointment reminder WhatsApp includes a pre-registration link. Patient completes intake at home. On arrival, a QR code on the kiosk screen completes the check-in with a single scan from their phone.
Patients who complete pre-registration can collect their queue ticket entirely from their phone without touching the kiosk screen. The kiosk auto-prints the ticket when it detects their QR check-in.
MOVO-X generates unique QR codes for appointments, recall reminders, procedure consents, and discharge summaries. Each QR encodes context so the kiosk knows exactly what action to complete on scan.
When NFC ID reading is unavailable (damaged chip, no NFC card), QR code is the primary fallback. Patient scans the QR on their WhatsApp appointment and proceeds without manual data entry.
30-second check-in for appointment patients using QR flow
Zero kiosk screen contact for pre-registered patients
QR adoption reaches 50–60% of appointment patients by week 4
Door QR reduces walk-in waiting room queue formation
QR codes are generated using HMAC-signed payloads with a 24-hour expiry. The kiosk QR scanner (built into the kiosk camera) decodes and verifies the signature before processing. Invalid, expired, or replayed QR codes are rejected with an error message and fallback to manual identification. QR generation at appointment booking uses the MOVO-X appointment service and is included in the WhatsApp confirmation template at no extra cost.
No. QR check-in uses the phone's native camera app to scan. The pre-registration link opens a mobile web app — no app store download required.
The kiosk offers three alternative check-in methods: IC/ID entry, name + date of birth lookup, and phone number lookup. No patient is blocked by a missing QR.
No. Each QR is HMAC-signed with a 24-hour expiry and a one-use flag. Sharing the QR with another person results in a check-in for the original patient — the recipient cannot use it to create a fraudulent check-in.
Yes. The door QR launches a new-patient registration flow on the patient's phone. They complete intake before entering; the kiosk recognises them via the QR session ID and prints their ticket.
Patients without smartphones use IC/ID entry or the kiosk touchscreen for manual check-in. QR and NFC are the fastest flows; manual entry is always available as a fallback.
